Steve Raichlen’s Beer-Can Chicken (And 74 other offbeat recipes for the grill) arrived in the post during the week. So, now it’s on. Some might say that just as Julie had a thing for Julia and her many culinary delights from the movie Julie&Julia, we at the 3015PROJECT similarly hold Steven Raichlen in high regard. Our fixation however, isn’t over fine French cookery, or studying the reason’s why an ingredient like butter can completely transform a recipe. Ours is quite simply the novelty of stuffing a chicken with a beer can, throwing it in the oven and then enjoying the results. From what we read via forums and other web material there’s much to be enjoyed thanks to Steve’s many recipes and suggestions. Time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, we won’t be attempting anything silly like, God forbid, cooking at least one recipe (from Raichlen’s Beer-Can Chicken) every day for the next few months. No. No, no, no. This is an experiment of a different sort. It really is more about getting a bunch of blokes away from their wives, standing around in a garage (in which there’s a car on blocks apparently), sampling the odd beverage or two and occasionally enjoying sifting through the pages of Beer-Can Chicken and enjoying the fruits of our labor. But Beer-Can Chicken is just the tip of the iceburg. The 3015PROJECT doesn’t yet have a mission statement - so this thing could literally go anywhere. It might also all be over some time next week... stay tuned.
